Self Worth
"One hundred years from now it will not matter what kind of car you drove, what kind of a house you lived in, how much you had in the bank account, not what your clothes looked like. But the world may be a little better because you were important in the life of a boy or a girl." -Thomas S. Monson
I read this quote today in the newspaper, celebrating President Thomas S. Monsons 90th Birthday today. It stuck out to me because we live in such a fast paced world, where everyone is trying to outdo the other. The constant stream of social media that we have flooding into our lives is a big factor to this game of comparison. Sometimes we feel as if we are not good enough, or we don't dress stylish enough, or don't have the fanciest cars etc. It happens to everyone, and we may get caught up in it a lot, forgetting the real importance and purpose in our lives. Just like in the quote from Thomas S. Monson, in 100 years these worldly things will not matter, the things that will matter is if we were good people that made a difference in the lives of others. There are many ways of doing this, maybe through the worldly things, but a cheerful smile, or act of service in the life of someone can make a huge impact on them. We should not focus on what others think of us but rather what we can do for others and how we love them. We need to Bloom Where we are Planted. Make the most of every situation and circumstance. We are all children of God and we all have divine potential, we just need to see ourselves and others through Gods eyes.

I was not able to find the original talk where the quote came from, but I did find this article from Thomas S. Monson here.-Jane

“Do something for someone else on that day to make his or her life better. Find someone who is having a hard time or is ill or lonely and do something for them. That’s all I would ask.” —President Thomas S. Monson
